Art is inspired by the whimsical and severe range of emotions experienced through life. I enjoy creating works as a means of reflection on this juxtaposition- thinking of each work as an environment to explore, observing the allowance of a work to be a journey.
This produces small self discoveries, such as how I like to paint birds with an inky quill feather (it feels poetic and I think the feathers quite like it), or how I enjoy the perfectionism of a digital pixel-focused product. Beading with intentions for the wearer is a new hobby of mine, but poetry and prose is an old pastime.
Creative work includes a sculpture, short films, ink drawings, paintings and poetry. Nostalgic wonderings translated through texture, form and rhythm.

Wei Lei - Power Figure
Inspired by the spiritual Congolese N'kisi Nkondi Power Figure,
recognized for unique insertions- often nails. Softened by personally designed fiber flowers crocheted by Eden Henry, hardened through alligator skin armor with needle insertions. With a mask and several offerings at its base, this piece speaks to un-masking. Exploring African-American identity and mental health.
